CatiBovin experience | Better persistence | Brösa dairy farm

Before CatiBovin was introduced, the farm was mainly struggling with performance dips and difficulties after calving, both with older cows and heifers.

Better persistency, better starts of lactation: CatiBovin as a building block for a productive and healthy herd

The Brösa dairy farm is part of a large agricultural cooperative in Upper Lusatia with around 890 dairy cows. The milk yield was around 34 kg of milk per cow per day when CatiBovin was consistently integrated into the feeding concept. Florian Kindermann is responsible for the dairy farm and has closely monitored the herd's development during this time.

Before CatiBovin was introduced, the farm was mainly struggling with performance dips and difficulties after calving - both with older cows and heifers, which often did not enter lactation properly and were unable to maintain a stable performance.

Targeted use around calving

CatiBovin is used in Brösa specifically in the critical phases around calving. "We use the product for cows shortly before calving, cows in the reproduction group and cows in early lactation - around 20 days before calving up to 100 days in milk," explains Florian Kindermann. In this way, CatiBovin accompanies the animals precisely during the time when their metabolism is particularly challenged and the foundations for a stable lactation are laid.

Noticeable improvements in persistency, summer performance and heifers

Since consistent use, he describes clear changes in herd development.

I have really noticed that there is better persistency. Milk yield is sustained, it doesn't drop immediately after a short time.

he reports.

The start of lactation has also improved noticeably: "After calving, the animals enter lactation much better." The summer problems that were once very pronounced have now been significantly alleviated.

Florian Kindermann is particularly satisfied with the heifers' development. Before using CatiBovin, they often had difficulty entering lactation properly. Today, the picture is completely different: "Before using it, we had problems with the heifers not starting lactation properly. That has now improved significantly." Overall, CatiBovin is making a noticeable contribution to stabilising the transition into lactation at the Brösa dairy farm and keeping milk yield more constant throughout the entire lactaion.
